Invest wind and solar to bring Malta's renewable energy capacity up to 100%. We don't have much, but we have enough sun and wind to power ourselves without having to rely on power stations. This will secure our energy independence. Moreover, break even for renewable projects are very low and can be financed through receipts. Eventually, household consumption can be free with a modest subscription fee, and low rates for businesses.
A very positive idea. However, given that solar requires large amounts of land area (something which is very limited in this country), it is unlikely that it will solve our energy problems. What we do have however, is ample sea area. I have seen movable, floating solar farms abroad, on lakes and out at sea. I believe we can do something similar in Malta.
