In the last several years there have been several cases on animal abuse in Malta. However, whenever taken to court the penalty was always mediocre. It is about time that the animal welfare act is revised and people who miss treat, hurt or torture animals start receiving serious punishments. In addition to that the government should offer more incentives to help all the animal shelters in Malta.

Harsher laws for those who hurt animals. Not simply giving them a fine! Prison should be considered as well, given the gravity of the abuse.
